Happy Mardi Gras!
Welcome to The Lifeline!
We have upgraded! We want to make an investment to you, our readers, our supporters, our friends, just as you have made a commitment to us these past few years. We hope you like our new Lifeline brought to you by Geoffrey Hennies and his good friend, J Reilly, of Lowthian Design Works. Let us know what you think!
A NEW New Orleans...Mardi Gras and Our New Mayor
Our newspaper, the Times-Picayune, is notorious for writing letters from the City of New Orleans to groups of people. For example, last Spring Break they wrote a clever letter thanking volunteers who have most likely come from a number of colleges and universities around the nation. Another most recent letter was addressed to the City of Miami warning them of our habits as New Orleanians, or better yet, as members of the Who Dat Nation, or Saints fans for those of you out of the loop.
The entire nation knows that the Saints were in and won the XLIV Super Bowl… but did you know that we also elected our new mayor? Mitch Landrieu won in a landslide victory claiming 66% of the vote last Saturday, February 7. So, in the spirit of the Times-Picayune, Mardi Gras, and our ongoing recovery from Hurricane Katrina, go here to view the letter to Mitch Landrieu.
Working Together to Carve Out Some Quiet Space
Contemplatives in Action is teaming up with both Trinity Episcopal and Parker United Methodist

Looking for Interns!
Katrin Sticha interned with us last summer after just spending two days over Spring Break with us! Now she most recently spent time with us this January helping us with our Thoughtful Response Teams and recycling Christmas Trees along our coastline. Here's what she's got to say about her experience: "I learned that prayer cannot be the first thing to go is a busy schedule. That God provides e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Example? Food on the table every day. I learned to live in real time. In real moments. To be present to people. I learned that I really do believe in people helping other people."
Applications for our 6 week Summer Internship in Ignatian Spirituality and Service for anyone over the age of 18 are due by April 1, 2010.
The dates for the program are June 6-July 17, 2010. For application materials, email Jocelyn.
